General FAQs

What is a Sausage Stuffer?

The sausage stuffer is a professional kitchen tool that can quickly stuff minced meat mixed with seasonings into the sausage casing to obtain the desired sausage. It mainly consists of several parts: barrel, plunger, discharge pipe and base.

Because of its simple and easy operation, fast filling, time-saving and labor-saving features, it is very popular among people, especially restaurants, sausage sellers, etc. It is very suitable for commercial businesses.

Sausage stuffing machines are the best way to fill ground products into casings or fiber bags. They can be vertical or horizontal, hand crank, electric, hydraulic or vacuum powered.

Leevot sausage stuffing machines are all vertically oriented and come in both hand-cranked and electric types, with capacities of 7, 11, 15, 22, 25 and 33 pounds to meet your different needs.

How does a Sausage Filling Machine Work?

By tilting the cylinder backward, put the minced meat mixed with seasoning into the tank, and then lock the cylinder on the bracket (there is a buckle on the bracket to lock), when you hear a "click" sound. Install the discharge pipe and crank handle, and connect the handle to the lower of the two gears on the side (the two gears are mainly used to adjust the speed, the higher one is fast, and the lower one is slow.), and then turn the crank. When the crank is turned, the rack descends and drives the piston downward to push into the barrel, so that the minced meat in the barrel is tightly connected and enters the pre-set casing or meat bag from the discharge port.

How to Use a Sausage Machine to Improve Work Efficiency?

Choose a suitable sausage filling machine based on the maximum capacity and type of sausages you need to fill every day. Gather all the ingredients you need to make sausage, including pork (venison, beef, or lamb), casings, and seasonings. Cut the meat into minced meat or use a meat grinder to mince it, add seasonings to the minced meat and mix well. Take out a clean sausage stuffing machine, install the accessories, load the minced meat into the barrel, and lock the barrel. Then just slowly turn the crank or pedal to press all the minced meat into the casings.

Using a sausage filling machine greatly saves the time and manpower required, and is an effective way to improve the efficiency of sausage making.

Types of Sausage Stuffer and How to Choose the Right Machine?

Sausage stuffer can be classified according to different criteria. For example, according to the material, it can be divided into stainless steel and plastic; according to its operation mode, it can be divided into manual and electric models; the shape can be vertical or horizontal; according to the usage scenario, it can be divided into household and commercial.

But usually the most common type we can see is the stainless steel vertical sausage machine. As one of the brands operating in this type, leevot has better performance, excellent after-sales service and more capacity options. Therefore, the leevot sausage filling machine can enter your list of machines.

What Factors Should be Considered When Choosing a Sausage  Machine?

When choosing a sausage filling machine, you should consider the following factors:

Quality: This factor is what we need to consider when choosing a machine. Good quality means longer service life and better performance.

Capacity: Generally, you need to calculate the maximum quantity that can be produced at one time to get the required capacity. Appropriate capacity can reduce the time of multiple operations and save more costs.

Operability: It means that you should choose a machine that is easy to operate.

Ease of maintenance: The machine requires regular maintenance to maintain optimal performance. Choosing a device that is easy to clean and maintain can simplify your operating steps.

Appropriate price: Price is also an important factor to consider. Choosing a product that matches the price and performance, or even offers great value for money, can greatly improve the sense of pleasure and stimulate the desire to buy again.

Safety: Safety has always been the first priority that should be considered, especially for this kind of mechanical products, safety is particularly important.

Proven customer track record: Customer reviews are often people’s true feelings. Before purchasing, we can get some of your thoughts and feelings about the product so that we can make a better decision.

Is It Possible to Make Sausages Without a Sausage Stuffer?

Can. Some brands of mixers are multi-purpose and can be repurposed by converting different attachments to use the spout for filling sausages. You can also hand-stuff the sausages. However, this can be time-consuming and difficult to achieve consistent results. The sausage filling machine greatly simplifies this process, ensures the quality of the sausage, and achieves twice the result with half the effort.

Troubleshooting FAQs

Why is My Sausage Maker So Hard to Shake?

  • The sausage mixture becomes too hard. Add water and mix to make it soft.
  • Add lubricant (mineral oil and vegetable oil) to the O-ring and rack
  • Make sure the cylinder is placed on the base in the correct direction.
  • The spindle/rack may be misaligned

Locate the bolts located on both sides of the gearbox housing. Loosen, but do not completely unscrew all 4 nuts. Rock the pressure plate to the bottom of the air and retighten the 4 nuts. This will realign the spindle, gears and pistons.

How do you Get the Last Bit Out of a Sausage Stuffer?

We disassemble the discharge tube without taking out the casing, and then use our own filling rod to guide the remaining minced meat into the casing. If you feel that the final minced meat does not affect your sausage making, then we suggest that you can make it into meatloaf and other delicacies.

Why does the Gasket on the Plunger "Blow Out"?

The gasket is installed incorrectly or needs lubrication. In addition, if the gasket is not replaced for a long time, it may also cause this situation. Therefore, in order to avoid the above situations, before using the machine, we should check whether the gasket is available or damaged, and replace it with a new one in time.

Why does the Meat Come Out from the Side of the Piston?

First it may be because you did not install the gasket/o-ring.

The gasket on the piston is not installed correctly.

The gasket needs to be lubricated.

The spindle may be misaligned.

Maintenance FAQs

How Often Should I Clean my Sausage Maker?

Generally we recommend cleaning all removable parts including cylinders, discharge tubes and pistons after each use. And we recommend that the sausage filling machine be thoroughly cleaned every 1-3 months.

How do I Clean My Sausage Stuffer Machine?

  • Before cleaning, make sure there is no residue left in the cylinder. If there is, clear it first.
  • Remove all removable parts (cylinder, discharge pipe, pressure plate, crank handle, etc.) and clean them in clean water. Be careful not to use chemicals that can corrode the machine.
  • Use a damp cloth to wipe the entire outside of the machine and its gaps.
  • Wait for all parts to dry before reassembling it.

How Often and How Should I Maintain My Sausage Stuffer Machine?

We can come and inspect and maintain our stuffing machines every 6 months. Mainly check whether the machine is rusty, whether the crank can shake smoothly, whether the O-ring on the piston has fallen off or is damaged, whether the rack can fall, etc. If a problem occurs, you can check the troubleshooting in the user manual, or consult the manufacturer's professional maintenance team.
